I am experiencing very poor RC link range with my IRIS+, even with direct line of sight (bought at the end of Sep/14). As soon as I reach a maximum of about 150m the 3DR transmitter begins to rapidly beep and the IRIS+ goes into a lost RC link Failsafe and starts coming back. I bought it to use for basic aerial video work, but this is making most jobs very difficult to do well as I cannot do any longer flyby runs with this unit. Is there any way of extending the RC range on this vehicle?

Yes! I had the same frustration and limited range. Best mod ever right here. I attached a $4 antenna bracket like this to the top of the IRIS+, just threaded the antennas up the arms and exposed the wire at the end. I just flew it for the first time this morning at 160' up and 350m out, clear LOS, got one little warning beep right at the furthest point but otherwise not a peep. This blows past my previous range by at least 2x. Huge improvement.
