Is HIL deprecated in Mission Planner?

Does Mission Planner still support Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) simulations?

Today's latest update of Mission Planner changed the simulation tab such that connecting with X-Plane is no longer an option.

Furthermore, links to images of Ardupilot for HIL were deprecated and returned 404 errors. Now, they are completely gone.

NOTE: I could not get HIL to run previously. The X-Plane simulation was completely unresponsive to the radio controller and I couldn't even see throttle outputs. I made sure to change all necessary parameters such as HIL_MODE, GPS type to HIL, etc. However, HIL never worked.

Can Mission Planner still run HIL? If so, how? Please help. Much gratitude in advance.

  • I am also interested in this topic. Tried PX4 with HIL and X-Plane but it is full of bugs. Will try to download older Mission Planner, but this solves nothing.Documentation is old and not updated for this.

I think all developers are using SITL as it seems more powerful, but for just users HIL makes more sense.
