i was thinking if fbwb could not be a nice semi auto launch mode: if you enter minimum altitude of 30meters for example. in theory I give it an orientation by holding it a second without input in my hand, the motor should go up and than cruise should bring it up to 30meters by himself applying all the good stuff it typically does incl. throttle mgmt, angles rights etc...right or wrong ?

Yea Cruise will set a waypoint 1km ahead and maintain altitude. If your altitude is zero....
Well, at the same time I specified 30 meter min altitude...but on the ground cruise is not starting the engine...tried that.
Auto-Take-off Needs a Mission. Currently I am flying without a Mission and as well without a PC in the field, let alone any Internet Connection for Google earth. I am thinking of something verysimple which brings the bird into the air without a Mission. Direction like in acro or fbwb is good enough.
Just set up the mission once and it will stay in the APM always. Every time you reboot the APM it will be ready to Auto takeoff again.
Just put a large altitude value in there to give you time, and interrupt the Takeoff by switching out of auto before that altitude it reached.
I haven't done this before, but I imagine it just depends on your program in APM. If your only step is launch I'm imagining it will go to loiter home.
