loading arduplane frimware with a 1280 ardupilot mega

hello i just purchased and adupilot mega 1280 from a fellow member on here and im having trouble loading firmware. the mission planner tells me to upgrade when trying to load through there. Is there any stable build that supports the 1280 and if so how do i get it on to the chip...thanks in advance i litteraly just got this and am trying to make it work any help is greatly appreciated

  • Once the code is loaded, all the parameters and mission waypoints are done through the mission planner.
  • Welcome! I hope you're as excited about your APM as I was when I first got mine.

    The 1280 is old hardware, officially deprecated, but still very much usable with a little tweak... The trick is you can't use the mission planner to upload to a 1280, because APM software is developped with a wide userbase in mind. Disabling a couple of items is required to fit it into the 128Kb flash of the 1280.

    You'll have to get Arduino 023 from here:

    and download the APM software from here:

    http://code.google.com/p/ardupilot-mega/downloads/list

    Unzip the file, and in Arduino set the preferences to where you unzipped your APM version.

    Once you get the sketchbook open, open the 2nd tab (APM_Config.h) and then follow along in this post:
