Loiter mode description

Hi

I would appreciate some clarification on what Loiter mode is please.

On the wiki page the Loiter mode is described as follows:

"Loiter mode is attempts to maintain the current location. Like Alt_hold, the altitude is interactive, using the throttle stick. Moving the roll and pitch controls resets the loiter location."

What does: "Moving the roll and pitch controls resets the loiter location" mean?

Reset to what location? If you just slightly move the roll or pitch control won't it remain at basically the same location?

Is it possible to set the desired altitude beforehand so that when you set it to Loiter mode it will maintain the hardcoded altitude?

Moving the sticks greater than 20% will cause the Loiter Location to be reset when you release the sticks. This has been disabled in the last few releases while we've been testing , but it will be re-activated for the final release.

A hardcoded altitude wouldn't work for most people, but you could edit the code and make it work however you like. Look for the do_RTL() function.
