Long endurance, heavy lifter multi-rotor platform.

Hey,

I want to ask expert advise on a long endurance (about 40 minutes) heavy lifter (1550gm camera) multi-rotor platform.

Can you speculate or advise me what would be the good starting point of building a multi-rotor (quadrotor, or hexacopter or octa copter) to carry 1550gram camera for about 40 minutes flight time?
Can you advise me how to select motor and propeller for such a platform?

Thank you.

  • Wow, that's a tall order.  Very tall.  You will have to use very low kV motors, with large props.  The frame would have to be EXTREMELY light weight, and the camera will have to be very very small.

If you want to carry a 1550 gram camera for 40 minutes, I daresay it's impossible, and by a long shot.  You'd struggle to get 20 minutes, and even 10 minutes is going to take some work.

    That's what you're up against.

However, using a helicopter, it becomes quite a bit easier.  A large gasser should be able to do it, almost "off the shelf".
