Hello

Is there anyone who could help me with finding some plans for large (2-3 m wingspan) blended-wing-body plane or flying wing with true aerofoil? (note that there is difference between BWB and flying wing. I prefer BWB.)

I'd like to build something like Viper V2.0 from http://greenairdesigns.com/ejc/index.php/special/viper-x-10-fpv-uav-flying-wing.html or Boeing X-48B http://greenairdesigns.com/ejc/index.php/special/viper-x-10-fpv-uav-flying-wing.html or well known Skywalker X-8 from EPP foam with a lot of carbon rebar to compensate for EPP softness.

Before you send me to use the f* Google I'd like to say that I'm not looking for easy common foamy. I prefer better flight performance and beauty over simplicity. Actually I'd be more happy for a 3D model than for a build plan. I plan to build computer navigated hot-wire cutter (whose each end can follow independent profile so it can cut almost any convex 3D shape) and then print the plane in multiple convex 3D segments joined by the rebar.
I haven't seen any similar projects ending in BWB or continuously smooth flying wing, although I've seen some automated hot-wire cutters.

I study embedded systems and I want/try to specialize in computer graphics a little (mathematics, algorithms & stuff) so realizing what I've described above is not a problem for me, it's a quest. However I really need help with finding a suitable nice 3D model or plans.
Also if you have seen similar projects, throw me a link please.

    Hi Michal

My BWB Tensor V2 on diydrones  It was modelled using xflr5

At the end of the article is info on wing sections and planform...

    regards

  • Any particular reason you're wanting a BWB or flying wing? If it's for aesthetics or as a challenging project to build using your proposed machinery, I can understand that. Just be aware, if you are not already, that flying wings tend to over promise on performance in theory and under deliver in reality. And they tend to be grossly impractical for any actual work like mapping, for example.

    • Hans, thank for answer. I want(ed) BWB for both reasons. Moreover I read about BWB as about compromise between the stability of conventional planes and the efficiency of flying-wings. They can also fit a large payload. However I also want a plane that flies well so I'm definitely willing to accept any good advice.
Looking apart from how I want to build the plane and focusing on what I want from the plane:
      - I want a large (2-3 m) wing or BWB because they are beautiful,
      - can carry a larger payload, (I like to experiment with various ARM boards, radios & other HW on my small hexacopter and it is not so easy to fit them in sometimes and i don't want to have this problem on the plane.)
      - easier to fit with landing gear, lights, cameras, and other decorations :D
      - can have greater flying range, for autonomous missions (with observer with direct line of sight ready to take control of course).
