  • I'm working through a magnetometer interference problem at the moment.

I had no trouble with the motor at 9 inches and brushless servos at 7.5 inches.  I flew successfully with no navigation problems.

HOWEVER, I added the digital camera which brought havoc.  My original setup had the camera very near the MAG and the first flight using the camera was a mess.

I took the camera out and slid it down the wing until no interference was obvious.  The camera and MAG had to be at least 16 inches apart.

Not sure what I'm going to do to solve it yet.  I really can't move the camera.  I moved the MAG but I only have 25cm cable so I can't move it far enough.

  • A compass measures the magnetic field which is pretty minute. It's a good idea to position it away from metallic things or strong electric currents (they induce magnetic fields of their own and you don't want to measure those). You could use a hand-held compass to test if it points in a different direction near the motor.

  • I don't believe so.
