MediaTek Vs uBlox (one stop shop thread)

Which is better for using in my airframe?

uBlox is 2x the price and helix antenna makes fitting more difficult (especially in quads) as well as the system more susceptible to breaking but because of the helical antenna once you have lock you almost always have it.

MediaTek is cheap, very robust and will fit anywhere easily but the ceramic patch antenna means that for lock it needs to be facing the sky (so extreme banking, rolling, loops and inverted flight won't be kind to it but if you can do these in AUTO well done anyway :D).

Here are just some of threads saying exactly the same again and again and again.

Sorry not to add any new perspective, but I have to agree with all of that. I use MediaTek exclusively because they're so small, robust and have always worked great for the normal stuff I do. But the purists do prefer the uBlox for the reasons you state. Just one note: the MediaTek won't lose lock in a roll or loop, but maybe if you're flying knife-edge for a few minutes it might. It's also slightly less sensitive in low-GPS environments such as "urban canyons" where there are a lot of building blocking the signal.
