MinimOSD and HKpilot

I am not sure where to post this question...feel free to berate me as i am new to the forum.

I am setting up a HKpilot system with the OSD and Telemetry that comes in the complete kit. I think I have most working on the bench for now. I noticed that my OSD does not display current data unless I have a telemetry link with my ground station.

There will be times when I wont take the computer along and just fly. How can I set it up so I get telemetry on the display without being connected to the computer (APM Planner2.0)?

  • Do you have a link to this? I have read many pages on this entered all the sr0 parameters and other to no avail. I am hopeful I am just missing something but I am getting frustrated at how difficult this is to setup.

Please attach your param file? I'll see if I can find an issue. Don't think pixhawk will be different, it's a software feature.
      • Also, it still only fully works with telemetry established and now my odd is cycling the screens and will not change when I flip my transmitter switch. I have it set to a 3-position switch so I can go to a blank screen and a limited data screen. That does not work.

Additionally, the screen will cycle into a display where the data is all vertically aligned giving a kinda summary of the data. I did not configure this screen and I have no idea what it is.

        • here is a screen shot

          • tried a bunch of stuff again tonight. if I arm the copter without the telemetry radios hooked up...

            -no gps coordinates

            -no battery information

-no osd pannel switching via my channel 8

-no indication of number of satilites locked

-system warning messages of no GPS fix and battery low

The artificial horizon works as does the rssi, tilt degrees, and heading.

Just can't seem to figure out why some data displays but not all!

Try changing your SR1_PARAMS to 10 in stead of 0, it should default on 10, not sure why yours is zero.

You're right about that screen shot - it's the summary screen, your OSD thinks it's at the end of the flight.

              • I changed the 0 to a 10 and it still did not work for me. I am still only getting partial data unless I establish a telemetry link. As soon as I hook up the radio and link it everything works fine and I can server the link.

It was suggested that I hook up the TX channel on the minimosd when not flying with the telemetry radios. Could this be the problem?

Something in the APM is not transmitting to the OSD until a telemetry link is established.

Would having the TX hooked up to both the odd and the telemetry be bad?

              • What triggers this screen? Is is cause I am only getting partial connections?

Are these parameters defined somewhere, it might help someone like me track down the issue.

      • Here you go. I really appreciate the help!

    • Thanks. I have read that peg and made the changes. No luck. My osd still only displays info when connected to telemetry.

My big source of frustration is the mission planner vs planner 2.0. Not sure why there are two different versions of the control software.

Wondering if a pix hawk would be a better choice.
