Missing component - chip on APM 2.5.1

Hello everyone,

I was always wondering why my dataflash wouldn't work / record. But originally I managed to set up my octocopter without any problems so I didn't bother with it.

However, after a recent incident and the subsequent painfull repair I've decided to use that function to check on vibrations. But once again wouldn't work.

So I've spent hours looking for information and found just reference to a 3.3V regulator problem or a loose soldering point. However, on inspection I've discovered the whole memory chip is missing. By the looks of it was never installed in the first place - see photos.

Is there any known issue with that type of board (2.5.1) regarding this or am I just the "lucky one" who got a board were the machine run out of parts?

Other than that very happy with the whole thing.

       Happy / safe flying.

  • The flatter tops of the solder, proves that it were there once. But did not flow fully.
You can get a new one, or from a damaged APM. It's simple to replace it with a hot air rework station.
