Modify Kalman Filter on Pixhawk

Is there anyone here try to modify the source code of Kalman Filter inside Pixhawk. I would like to ask is it possible and how difficult it is to modify and the source code of Kalman Filter. As I am using the Rover so 22 states of Kalman Filter are not all neccessary.

    It should take a university graduate 2 to 3 weeks to learn and implement the kalman filter for the first time.

    It is is already written for you then it should be easier.
