New to the forum. I am planning to do my first quad build and I am puzzled about something that I hope someone can clarify for me. How do you size your motors and also your batteries. Is there different motors for endurance and/or lift/payloads. Is there a list of the motors out there and what they are good for. Also how do you size your batteries? I don't want someone to just tell me "you should use xyz motor" I really want to know if there is an art to picking motors or is it something related to the size of the quad or the function. Thanks love the site.d

I was aiming on 20 minutes flying with two bateries in paralell and it worked well for me. I only use one battery because I can get about 25 minutes flying on two batteries carried seperatly.
I also looked at what others used to work out where to find value for money components.
The one thing I would suggest is use cheep props and get plenty of them to start with because you will probably break quiet a few :) (unless you already fly helies os something)
I dimensioned my quad for APC 12x3.8 but I am using 10x5 hobby king's while I learn to fly acro.

HI mate,
You still don't have it set to add the weight of your drive. It should look something like this.
Sorry Dan,
The details didn't come through with that link. You will have to put a screen shot up or type the config into the reply.
hi Dan,
Ihad the same question myself. A great starting point I found was:
