Motors dying as they are being calibrated

I'm currently using a 3 cell 5000mah LiPo batter. The battery connects to the 3DR Power Module, which connects to a wire harness power distribution. This PD connects to each of the ESCs which connect to the motors.

This problem wasn't happening before and only started last week:

When I'm calibrating the motors, or just checking the throttle after arming, eventually all the motors except 1 stop spinning. I use the voltage checker on the battery and it says it still has 10.6/11.1 V left.

I don't understand what could be causing it. We charge the battery for only a few seconds and it seems to fix the issue, but eventually it happens again. Any ideas?

  • Calibrate manually by 1 per 1, the cause could be the ESC or mainly the board. Ensure you balance your lipo to be sure it is at 11.1 for every cells.
    • It does this during manually 1 per 1 calibration. All motors would calibrate successfully, but when checking if they spin by moving the throttle, 3 motors spin normally for a few seconds then slowly die and stop. The 4th motor works as intended.

This is fixed for a time by charging the battery for a few seconds like I mentioned in the Opening Post.

How do I balance my LiPo?

  • it could be the motor itself which isn't spinning like other while arming. Let me know when you have done checking the motor. Likely the issue is not on the lipo or even the power distributor.
