motors & esc

hi!

is it necessary that i have four motors of the same kind assembled to a quad? can the apm balance the difference e.g. between 3x 960kv and 1x980 motor?

can i have mixed sizes of escs? e.g. 2x 25A and 1x 30A (i assume that the motor does not reach the peak limit).

thx

joel

  • An additional question: can I take an ESC with a very high Ampere? For example, the motor manufacturer recommends 20A and I take 30A or even more?
    • Yes to is better to do that, when your motor draw more current than speck you will not have smoke!

      • Yes it is better to do that for example your motor bearings are going or same grit in motor it going to draw more current that would help in this situation but some ESC are under rated, other can handle up to 3 times amp over sort time prevent smoke!

        • okay. so better bigger esc, right?

          • NO! if bigger means heavier no!

  • hello, you can have different KV motors for sure but not different ESC the firmwear must be the same on all ESC you plan to use as for Amp draw not that important as long as motor is supported.
