My OSD stopped working right

I finally had my minimOSD working yesterday for first time. I realized the labels were not friendly at all but was good enough for my maiden flight - I'm a nubie and yesterday is actually the first day I've ever flown my rig fpv, but I'm not new to ardupilot.

I've attached a screen shot of this. For example, the label for Air Speed isn't AS it is FWA (whatever that means). Besides the labels, the minimOSD performed perfectly as far as I noticed.

So I get home and do the basic stuff to fix the labels - make sure I have latest software (using 2.1.2.0 ArduCAM OSD Config, MinimOSD_20.hex firmware, and my board says v1.1).

Reloading all that doesn't help.

So I try to Update CharSet by downloading OSD_Charset.mcm. I get an error during this process, something about the ArduCAM OSD Config program having an exception which didn't look good. It is entirely possible that I interrupted the download of the CharSet as I really didn't know what I was doing the first time I attempted this.

So I try again and the Charset downloads without error but now my minimOSD overlay is corrupted. I've tried reloading everything multiple times.

At this point the minimOSD is unusable and all the characters and values are gone. See attached photo. Interestingly the horizon line is still there and is working when I tilt the plane. But there is only some gibberish on the screen instead of all the expected OSD data.

I have used OSD Config to turn off all the values in panel 1 and 2, then turn them back on. Multiple reboots... Everything I try I can't get back to normal.

I'm starting to think I have a defective board. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

  • Did you have the 12v power attached when performing the charset update? You need to.
