My pitch trim is way off, even after calibration

Hi folks...

New to this.

Have an APM 2.5+ and a Turnigy 9x radio.

I have been able to successfully fly, but only with full pitch trim down (as selected on the radio by pushing that little trim switch forward).

I have calibrated the sticks using the radio's own internal menu/calibration system, and I have repeatedly did the radio calibration inside mission planner (see attached pic)...but yet, my pitch trim is way off.  Any ideas?

Thanks...

Can you plug a servo into that ch on the rx and see if you get the expected travel? It has to be a radio issue, as APM will only report what it sees as the pwm range output from the channel.

  • Other thoughts...

Did you check the leveling calibration? In short, with the aircraft level in two axis, right side up, does the Mission Planner Flight Data screen horizon show level?

It is unlikely but...is the APM mounted level to the airframe? A 1/16 inch difference from one end to the other is too much.

This still seems like a radio calibration issue but if the other questions above are in play, it will all add up.

  • Thanks for the thought Doug... I think it does.. I will check and report back.
  • Does the radio have a subtrim setting? If so, it could be way off.

I am not familiar with the 9x, flying Spektrum here.

  • John... Thanks for that suggestio... Good thought.

However, check the pic... You can see that the pitch "range" is off center... Its biased toward the top of the pitch bar, which is pitch back, or nose up of course.

So it apprears to be an electronic calibration issue. But I can't figure it out.

Have you balanced your props? Vibration can induce a lean.
