Mystery Radio FS, RTL. Any explanation in log?

I had a Radio FS today resulting in a (fortunately) successful RTL.  I'm versed in basic log analysis but i'm not seeing anything that may point to why the FS occurred.  As far as i can tell, it was momentary - a failsafe 1 followed immediately by a failsafe 0.  When it began to climb i had no idea what was happening, so you'll see in the log that i hit the RTL switch and then turned the radio off to initiate a radio FS.  After that i did not try to regain control during the RTL.

I did just install a new FrSky V8FR-II, run through a PPM Encoder to the pixhawk.  I completed a few hover tests with no issue, then ~11 min of flight time before the FS.  I suppose there's a possibility it's just a faulty V8FR.

Link to log below - any input would be appreciated. Running 3.2.1.

  • For the test you did, I think to be sure of the issue you need to strap the copter down, and run the same test with lipo power on the workbench.. Probably only have to turn the throttle up enough to spin the props (not to hovering power level).
Do you have any transmitters running on lipo power, that wouldn't be powered up via USB?  1.2ghz video or anything, that might interfere w/ your 2.4ghz transmitter?

How do you have your radio failsafe configured?   Maybe it's set too high.
You have to configure your radio to send no pulses (In the radio menu).  Then you have to configure the receiver to go to no pulses (On mine I think I press the bind button w/out the transmitter turned on, but obviously check your instructions).
Then in mission planner you have to set your radio failsafe trigger level to something well below your lowest throttle position.

well, that's probably enough from me, because I'm not actually experienced.  It's the 'blind leading the blind'  here... Good luck :).

  • (I haven't seen your log.. Can't review it on this computer)

    but...

I'd try a different receiver, if you can.
Otherwise, I recently read about someone being knocked out of the sky every 10 minutes by a nearby radar scan.
