Hie All ..Im a Computer Science student .. I have no idea about the hardware .. but I have chosen to make a sort of UAV simulator (Autopilot) as my Final Year Project for my Bachelors Degree, as im an Amateur aeromodeller ..!!Now what Im suppose to do in the initial phase is make a Control Software that will be running the Autopilot module. This will be running on one computer and it will be sending signals wirelessly to another computer running a Simulator Software (Aerofly RC simulator etc) and controllin the aircraft in the simulator. Now the wireless connection shouldnt be a conventional wireless link of computers, it should be the link that an actual UAV has ... The purpose for doing this is that when that simulator PC will be replaced by an RC Plane, it should be able to control the plane as well. Now I need someone to show me a direction, or if there is a better solution to this.Tasks:Wireless Communication between two computers sending same control signals as an actual UAV or RC Plane would recieve.Controlling the aircraft in the simulator.I dont know if I explained it correctly or not ..ThanksAbdur Rehman

There are several threads here that discuss data links.

I think the most popular right now would be the Xbee modems.
