Need help using joystick to control Arducopter

I have hooked up an old joystick that was laying around and got it working with my computer (under W7).  The joystick works fine and I get changes to the rcoverridech1 and the other channels that all correspond with the correct movement, but I can't figure out why I can't get any movement from the UAS.  The UAS flies fine with radio control.

To add to the confusion, the buttons on the joystick for changing modes work fine.  I can assign modes to buttons and switch when I arm through mission planner or the transmitter.  So what's the deal?  Do I need to change some parameter to use the joystick?

  • I am having the same problem with APM 2.5 and the latest version of Mission Planner. Have tried many joysticks but no success. Kindly let me know if you had resolve it.

  • Hi, Did anyone figure this out?  I have the same problem with a X52, buttons work but none of the rc channels make it to the copter .

  • I am a similar issue, I can get it to show up... even configure it and see stick movment in the MP joystick section but as soon as I load radio calibration once I was able to do it but now it just shows for a second then blanks all the inputs???

    anyone?>

I have found this issue in a few places on the DIY drones site.. anyone?

  • I took out my old APM 2.0 board with FW 2.64 loaded to test it , guess what joystik works perfectly.

Loaded it with newest version of Aplane 2.78 and it works again.

Looks like samething was wrong with my APM 2.5 board!!! Cant test it as I had fly away in Jan ( totally my fault).

So my problem was totally hardware fault , may be 3.3 V blown! everything else worked fine.

    I'm getting Pixhawk now.

  • I've read that new releases have made some improvements but I haven't been using a joystick
    • The problems with the x52 are somewhat strange, because here

      it somehow worked.
I was close to buying one for the same reason.
Will have to think it over, i guess.
Would be a real pity, if there is a problem now.
Flying with the X52 would be breathtaking.

EDIT: but I have to point out that I do not approve with the selection of flight area in the video.

I own a X52, and MP has been tested with one. so long as the joystick shows up in the control panel it should work.

        • Thanks Michael,

          This is great news!
