Hi,
I have a brand new APM board for my quad project and I am simply trying to connect to the APM using USB cable, but nothing works :(
I tried two different computers (laptop windows 7 and desktop windows 8) with a couple of versions of mission planner including the latest one, but no luck.
When I plug the usb cable, the computer detects arduino mega 2560 and drivers looks all good, but within mission planner it won't connect. Even the terminal mode doesnt work. There it says opened com port, but then nothing at all and when I open the link status box, I see no bytes at all are being transfered.
When I try the standard connect button, I get a timeout after a while. I tried powering the APM with the power module while trying to connect, it doenst change anything. I even tried another usb cable and still nothing.
On the board itself, I get a green light next to the GPS connector and a blinking blue led sometimes but that's it.
I tried the reset button which of course did not change anything to the situation.
So, what do you guys think? Does it means I have a bad unit and will need to contact support to have it replaced or is there anything else I should try?
I'm a little desperate here :(
Thanks!

Did you upload any firmware to your new APM? I doesn't come preloaded. You must decide plane, copter, or rover firmware and upload it from the mission planner. Please read the instuctions.
