I just downloaded, loaded the code, and flew the newest ArduPirateNG code from their trunk location on Google code.  The new NG code supports the newest v1.6 GPS firmware and I get GPS lock on the CPU board.    Yea!!!    :-)

Test flew briefly in stable mode and it flew very well. I flipped into altitude hold mode and it quickly started to rise. Since it was dark out, I didn't want it to get out of the light from my flood lights on the house, so I flipped back to stable mode and flew around for a few more minutes.

Great job ArduPirates!

I really need to get used to how sluggish the yaw is on these quads. I'm used to good heading hold gyros on 600mm helis. That is a whole different world than the yaw an a quad!! eek.gif

At any rate, it's flying well and I need to get more acquainted with it!.

Check it the ArduPirate code!

  • From your post, I have to assume I am *not* running v1.6 MTK code?

My GPS came with the FahPah (first batch) ArduCopters, and I'm running RC2 code.  It works fine, gets lock, and so on.  Is there a positive advantage to going to v1.6 and the Pirate code?

I wonder if you could wire up a heli head hold gyro between the rc receiver and the rudder input on the APM ?
  • That's great news! Can't wait to upload it to my quad.

I think I found it before but can't seem to find it again ... so how do you know which firmware do one has on his/her mediatek gps unit?

    Thanks.

  • Are you using a mediatek gps with the new firmware? What version did you GPS come with?

Very good news. We'll make this the officially supported code just as soon as we get the green light from the Pirates.
