Hello all,I opened the case of my bluetooth gps and it seems to have a little plug (see red circle on the picture below). Do you think it's a nmea output ?thanks.

  • It could be, and would be pretty easy to verify. It would only need 2 connections, one for ground and one for the data line. If you have a O-scope this would be riduclously easy to see but I'm assuming you don't based on the post. So you're going to (I assume) setup a ttl > rs232 transceiver for a serial port on a computer, start hyperterminal with 4800-N-8-1 and see what you get. If you get "$G" or something similiar on the output of one of the lines you are good to go. If you get data but it isn't readable the baud rate might be 9600 or something different (maybe) or the output line might be logically inverted (maybe). The second would be more difficult to verify but sometimes you can find this in one of the settings of the device or you can do a hexdump to a dos prompt and there is probably a program online that could convert it for you. Or, since I assume you eventaully intend doing somethign with a microcontroller you could do that in your program as well. Good luck!
