I'm trying to configure the X8.
When I start the ESC Calibration and plug in the battery, I don't get the lipo 3 cell beep:
"7. Wait for your ESCs to emit the musical tone, the regular number of beeps indicating your battery’s cell count (i.e. 3 for 3S, 4 for 4S) and then an additional two beeps to indicate that the maximum throttle has been captured."
I get a musical beep followed by a short beep.
The process so far:
Turn transmitter on, high throttle
Connect LiPo
- Result: musical tone, short beep
Disconnect LiPo
Re-Connect LiPo
- Result: same musical tone and short beep as 1st time connecting LiPo, i.e. not getting a LiPo 3 cell beep, much less the 2 beeps that the high throttle was captured.
If I drop the throttle to low, I get another beep, and the motors will spin when throttle is advanced.
However, if I disconnect and reconnect the LiPo, I can't arm the motors.
I'm using a Spektrum DX7s and AR8000, the same setup as my 3DR quad.

Not using 3DR ESCs myself, but reading the forum looks like they run Simonk multirotor-optimized code. As such, you don't get any cell-count beep. Simon's code lacks voltage monitoring and all the other configurable options of a regular airplane ESC.
Otherwise, the calibration beeps sound normal. Being unable to arm them is certainly due to incomplete setup of the APM.
