Not sure what happened but after 8 hr i give up

so i installed mp not via the installer i didn't see it so i just manually loaded the driver and all worked fine. but realizing i didn't have the 3dr radio drivers i removed and reinstalled mp via the install tool and now i get com port does not exist when trying to connect.the driver is loaded i can see the driver and the board via device manger and i can see it in the drop down in mp to select com3 but it will not connect. not i did make the mistake of having the 3dr radio plugged in when i connected to usb. could having both plugged in hurt the board ? i fig there was a issue with windows so i loaded a fresh mp via a fresh download of the installer it loaded drivers etc... and i have the same problem  com port does not exist ? its just on com 5 now on the new pc i give up did i hurt it buy plugging it into usb with the 3dr plugged in ?

    I had a similiar issue to this when I did a second installation on my laptop [funnily enough not my desktop] on Windows 7.  Turns out windows needed to update the drivers.  Try this:

    1. Un-install/remove MP.
    2. Un-install the drivers from device manager.
    3. Reboot.
    4. Install MP.
    5. Install the drivers.
    6. Right click on the drivers within device manager and select update - hopefully windows will find something and update them.
    7. Try to connect the drone with MP.
