Old diydrones.com GPS module and problems with it

Hello. Today I've got a GPS module GTPA010 on MediaTek_V12 which was bough from diydrones.com some time ago.

Now I have some troubles. It has 6-pin h jst connector, but when i look at the bottom i can see 5outputs: GND, 5V, OUT, IN, EN. How can I know which wire from connector (which pin) suite each output. I don't know if the top red wire is GND or it is nothing, but the second black wire is GND. Can you help me?

Can I somehow check it with multimeter? How?

  • Does your multimeter have a continuity mode (makes a tone when you have a complete circuit like touching the probes together)?  If yes you can put one probe on a pin on the  connector or a wire and then touch each pad until you get a tone that indicates the wire goes to that pad.  If it doesn't have a continuity mode use resistance mode and look at low resistance to indicate a wire is connected to a pad. Having a tone is much easier, though so you don't have to keep looking at the meter.

  • Ignore me, I don't have this same issue.

  • No worries, though I would test yourself to be sure. I am using mine with an arduino also but not using the cable - i soldered pins directly to the pads:  http://imgur.com/a/FOrji

    Yes gps out goes to arduino in (Rx)

    Thanks a lot, you are my hero !
    To be sure, I need to connect Out to Rx in arduino?

    I have that module but mine is v13.  Testing with a multimeter gives :

    red -> gnd

    black-> 5v

    yellow -> in

    green -> out

    blue -> gnd

    white -> no connect

  • Maybe I'm stupid but can't find anything about the module connection in this link.
