"I have that module but mine is v13.  Testing with a multimeter gives :

red -> gnd
black-> 5v
yellow -> in
green -> out
blue -> gnd
white -> no connect"

"I have used xbee serial explorer boards from sparkfun and they seem to work ok. I think the rs232 signal spec is +/- 12v so anything that is spec'ed to handle rs232 signal voltages should be fine at 7 (I think)."
