Only three motors spin when I arm the arducopter

I put together my arducopter and then I set everything up. And when I armed the motors all of them worked except the front motor. Then I changed the front motor to a different output and it worked but the motor on output 3 didn't work. So I think its the red board on the ardupilot.

  • This happened to me last night. One of the motors did not move after ESC calibration. I had connected the three lead wire to the last ESC the wrong way after doing the arming procedure by connecting the ESC signal wire to the receiver throttle output.

This was a good reminder of a golden rule:  Never work on precision technology when unsober, tired or past your normal bedtime. I was simply too tired and had fallen into the trap of trying to finish up before going to bed so the quad would be ready for a wonderful Saturday morning.

As luck has it, this did not harm anything  but such mistakes can easily release the little puff of white smoke that is built into all electronic gadgets and is the key to their successful function.

  • Is there a way to make the front motor be controlled by output 5 instead of output 3

  • when you apply a little throttle, does it spin up?

    did you calibrate your accelerometers?

  • How about if you try the "motors" command in CLI mode, under the "test" menu?
