Anyone know how optical flow works in AC 3.2.1? In AC 3.1.5 you can use the terminal commands to read the values but in AC 3.2.1 I can´t find anywhere in MP to verify that the sensor actually works. Does it automatically works with loiter/althold/poshold?? Is there any known issues with the optical flow and sonar on APM 2.xx other than they are not so trustable???

Same problem here. APM2.8 with 3.2.1 and no OF_Loiter flight mode selectable.......do you guys know if the optflow sensor is used in the normal poshold/loiter mode or is it just not supported in our version?

Its called OF_LOITER , Its a special mode that uses the flow sensor to hold position.
I really dont think flow sensor works with APM. I tried about a year ago and had no success. If you get it working I would love to know. Maybe I might not have wasted money on the flow sensor.

I´ve seen that many say that I should use OF_LOITER but...I have not that flight mode to select. All of the other flight modes are present but just specific one is missing. Perhaps it´s gone after MP updates??? Or perhaps

I was reading up about it a bit more. So it does look like you need AC3.1.5. Now you can get that from the drop down menu in MP. Go into MP and "install firmware" menu and you will see "pick previous firmware" bottom right and you should get a drop down. You want to look for CA 3.1.5 its about 1/4 the way down and load that onto the quad. You should get the "OF_LOITER" option for a flight mode.

I already tried that and there is no firmware other than AC3.2.1 that can be downloaded to APM 2.x so I searched the net and found AC3.1.5 on a rc forum site and downloaded the hex file that way. (They have removed all the past builds for APM 1.x/2.x except AC3.2.1 from the download site). Then I used the "custom firmware" link above your suggestion and uploaded my hex file to the FC. It worked just fine. But in the AC3.1.5 there was no OF_LOITER either but the terminal worked fine with the optical flow readings so no I know it´s working. (must be an MP upgrading issue that they took away OF_LOITER in MP) I decided to flashed back to AC3.2.1 so...i´m aiming to get the optical flow work with that firmware. When I decide something I usually...after a while...figure the problems out so...wish me luck! :-) It´s sad that they stopped developing APM 2.xx firmware because of the small amount of memory and just going for PX4 and so on but...APM 1.x/2.x are old hardware so the future is all about the new hardware and new fine options for flying multicopters! AC 3.1.5 is in the list. Look for "AR 2.47 AP 3.1.1 AC 3.1.5".
Let me know how you get on with this. I would like to get my flow sensor work as well.
