3 miles is a nice range for the video. What video setup are you using?
Also, I noticed that the gimbal is either pointing down or horizontal, this tells me what you have it turn on a switch instead of a potentiometer. Usually transmitters have (one or more) in the middle, so you should set up the ghimbal on a channel that is connected to one of those potentiometer. What transmitter are you using (how many channels) ?
