Paparazzi Altitude Reporting is off

Hey guys,

I am working with a group using Paparazzi Auto Pilot. We have been out to several flight tests using a Zephyr II Wing. The problem we are having is as follows:

There was about a 5 second delay in Altitude reporting that was constantly inaccurate. We fixed the delay by eliminating the GPS and want it to strictly use baro for altitude. Kind of like I do on my APM. The problem is the reported altitude is accurate "On the Ground" but not in the air. We will lay the plane on the ground and the altitued is reported at 0. I can pick up the plane to 1 and 2 meters off the ground and the altitude is accurate. BUT, as soon as we launch the plane, the altitude goes crazy. It starts reporting numbers like: 30 meters at 15 feet AGL, 150 meters while at about 50 meters AGL ect. We have and still are continuing to look through the code, but we cant seem to figure this out. Any advice from the experts would be greatly appreciated. I know we are all APM savy and I use two of them in my personal planes and quad, but I couldnt think of a better place to ask than here.

  • Hi Jamie,

I would strongly recommend to ask questions about Paparazzi on our mailing list: http://paparazzi.enac.fr/wiki/Contact#Mailing_List

Please repost your question there with some more details on what paparazzi_version, autopilot board and configuration you are using.

    Cheers, Felix
