My X quad was doing the same thing - flipping over when throttling up - but it had been flying beautiful with the CC3D.
The motors are numbered from front left, one through four, clockwise with the CC3D but starting on the front left as 1, diagonal back right as two, etc, on the APM. I made a noob mistake and wired them wrong (left them in the APM configuration). Really pay close attention on which ESC plugs into which APM channel.
OK, so if you were connected to Mission Planner then you would see in the 'Initial Setup' the frame type window which would have a highlighted radio button beside the frame type you have selected.
Have you seen this?
The 'x' or '+' is set in the APM not the 'P'ower 'D'istribution 'B'oard
You have given very little information to go on.
APM or PixHawk? What version firmware? A flight log?
The more you give us the more we can help.
I have a couple of Quads that like to flip on takeoff (initially anyway before tuning) and I have to punch them off the ground to at least 1m and they are fine, if a bit touchy .
i am pretty sure the motors and esc are fine and that they have the correct configuration.
1 and 2 are ccw & 3 and 4 are cw..and i have the correct propellers on them. 1 and 2 have normal props & 3 and 4 have R props...this is the correct configuation right?
i am using 8*4 props with 1400kv motors...and i have a 2700 mah battery at 25c continous and 50c burst

I recently upgraded from a CC3D unit to APM 2.6
