Pinpoint and fix APM 2.5 hardware failure?

Hello, after a crash my APM 2.5 has kinda broken. Mainly it doesn't seem to be able to interface with the GPS and I cannot access the logs.

I was wondering how could I estimate the gravity of the damage and if it is possible to try to repair it, or should I just buy a new one.

I'm attaching two screenshot of the error that's displayed when trying to access the logs

  • Hi,

Well it looks like it really can read the logs, but MP or the communications protocol gets confused. That would not be the first time... maybe this time it is because of a corrupted log entry. Or, also see here. If the logs are not important, try delete them. Does MP pop that error no matter which single log you read? Try read them one at a time.

The GPS problem could be the GPS, the cable or the APM. You or somebody else will have to test each of them. For example, modify one of the example Arduino sketches to test UARTDriver to use the GPS port and perform a loopback test. Test the GPS by connecting it directly to a PC serial interface. There is software availale both for UBlox and for NMEA to interpret the data and display it. If it is NMEA (the Mediatek GPS) then it is easy to find the right baud rate for the port - is has to produce readable text in a terminal program.

I think it might be OK or only need small repairs, The rest is OK, like the HUD in Mission Planner still shows the attitude right? Compass is good? Barometer?

    Regards

    Soren
