Pixhawk boot problems

I have received my 2 pixhawks :-)

The first one is working fine, i have upgraded to 3.1.1 without any problem.

But the second one has issues to boot :-( i did the same procedure as on the first one but after the upgrade i get startup tone disturbed by beep beep and no connection via MP... still i'm able to upload new firmware but with the same results.

tried to upload plan/rover and press Button for IO upgrade but no success.

please help me

Thanks

Thomas

  • Hi,

I have almost the same problem. The only different with mine is the IO B/E orange light goes solid with a flashing blue light. The FMU PWR light comes on, B/E light flashes briefly and that is all. Note the buzzer and the switch light also beeps/flashes constantly.

I've tryed to flash ArduCopter 3.1.2 but it doesn't make any difference, with APM Planner 2, nor Mission Planner 1.x. I seem to be able to get the PX4 to flash using QGroundControl and connect okay, but that is it. Can't get ArduCopter 3.x to boot on it at all.

    • Hi,

I have the same problem I have done a hot fix for windows xp that now got it recognising a new SDHC card, but I still get the "error uploading firmware" any help in getting this first step sorted out will be appreciated.

      • The origin of my problem is likely different. I installed PX4 firmware onto my pixhawk board. That worked okay, I just couldn't get it back to ArduCopter without it ending in three long beeps, three short beeps, repeat.

I did get it sorted though. In the end, I did the following:

        1. downloaded the v2 ArduCopter PX4 firmware from here: http://firmware.diydrones.com/Copter/stable/PX4-quad/

        2. booted into QGroundControl and selecting PX4 Autopilot (not APM) profile.

        3. Selecting "Config" from the Perspectives menu and then "Firmware Upgrade".

        4. Check the "Advanced" checkbox.

        5. Select the correct Port (you need to have the Pixhawk connected).

        6. Board should be set to "PX4FMU v1.6+"

        7. Select the "ArduCopter-v2.px4" file via the Select File button. Then click Flash.

        8. Hold onto your britches.

        9. ....

        10. Profit.

After that the Pixhawk booted normally for me and it thereafter runs ArduCopter again and connects as expected to APM 1/2 and QGroundControl in APM mode.

If you still don't get anything resembling "normal", there might something wrong with PX4IO component (try powering on the Pixhawk whilst holding the safety button depressed) or something wrong with the SD card (try clearing its contents and ensuring its FAT32 formatted and in good health). If all of that fails, maybe it's something else, I don't know, I'm relatively inexperienced so perhaps you can get support from 3DR.

        Good luck!

  • Hi,

Did you tried to put the sd-card in your computer and format the sd-card (FAT32) ?
