Hello everyone!
I am a week to RC/UAV so please excuse me if has been asked before...
I am using a DX6i Tx and a pixhawk. I calibrated the ESC's like the website told me to do http://copter.ardupilot.com/wiki/initial-setup/esc-motor/ . I clicked the link for arming the pixhawk but when i pull the throttle (left stick) down and to the right, I do not hear it arm, also I cannot get the motors to spin after the calibration setup. I am looking to figure out what "stabilize mode" is and how to get the rest of my drone setup.
On a possibly related note... when I plug the pixhawk into both my laptop and desktop (mac osx10.9 and linux mint respectively) and open APM 2.0, and I load the firmware, I cannot get the motor calibration button like the internet shows. I DO NOT have any telemetry right now so I have no idea if this is a big deal or not.
All help will be appreciated but please keep it simple Im still VERY new at this.
thank you so much
Michael

So I managed to get this figured out, i will explain if anyone is has problems in the future.
1) go to this website and do an ESC calibration
http://copter.ardupilot.com/wiki/initial-setup/esc-motor/
2) update firmware, and click connect. if you have problems (like I did) then disconnect and click the second box to the left of your connection icon. On my mac it defaulted to bluetooth usb, I changed that to USBmodem1.
3)after you change that to USBmodem1 (or 2), then click connect again. after it has connected to mavlink, click on initial setup, you should see the mandatory setup box on the left side.
4)follow these instructions to calibrate the rest of the pixhawk
http://copter.ardupilot.com/wiki/flight-modes/
5) arm your pixhawk using these instructions
http://copter.ardupilot.com/wiki/arming_the_motors/
little hint, make sure you see which switch you flip to get radio 5 to move, this is your flight control, and for me (spectrum DX6i with AR6210 rx) this is what needs to be toggled to arm.
