Hi guys!

This is first time I fly (successfully at least!) and I've noticed that my controls seemed "inverted"...

Let me know if this is normal... first, I fly a standard "upgraded" kit from jdrones, APM pins facing back of quad... compass solder components down on APM, Baro has a foam on top and I have gyro filter pads soldered (running 2.0.23 uploaded with latest planner, + mode)

Ok, now that is out of the way, I see 2 "strange" things on the screen

First you can see the "ERR" for error?? in Bearing ERR and altitude ERR below... is this normal??

if so, what does it stand for?

Second thing, when I point the front of the quad to the computer screen and move it nose down, I see the pitch go down, move the quad nose up and it goes up... all normal to me here..

But if I rotate the quad on its axis to the right the ROLL goes in up (positive), left the ROLL goes down (negative) in the nice screen I see the horizon move in the opposite way to the right/left orientation of the quad.... (not the compass, the Roll).... again, excuse my ignorance but is this normal? I expected the horizon to follow my movement (like it did for the PITCH...)

Compass wise it's fine, it moves accordingly and I can find North and rotating left right displays the compass on screen to rotate in the same direction...

So it's really just the ROLL... normal?

Again, thanks a lot!

Thanks guys, this now makes sense... as for the manual, I do see it in the manual now... :) hard to keep up (that is a good thing, it means we are moving ahead fast!)

    Great job to all!

"ERR" is just how far from the target you are, be it target altitude, waypoint or path. You will always have some number there, since UAVs are always going towards their targets (ie, not there yet. The moment they get there, they are given another target)

BTW, this is described in the manual.

  • Yes, I see the same thing, however, the raw data shows roll oriented correctly. The good news is the the quad flies correctly, so I believe the attitude indicator in the new APM is indicating incorrectly.
