Powering APM

I am trying to figure out the best way to power my APM. I have read through the manual and seen that their are several different ways to do it. My current configuration is a fixed wing aircraft with a 3s lipo battery, 4 small servos, an Xbee Pro-900, gps, airspeed sensor, and I am going to add a current sensor, magnetometer, and eventually a camera.

Should I power through the receiver using a 4.8V/6V servo battery, or should I use a BEC or external BEC, or should I un-soldering the SJ1 solder jumper and power the board directly using a 2s Lipo.

I am an engineer, but not electrical, so I am not working with a full deck of knowledge on this one.

Any help at all on this subject would be appreciated.
