It is recommended to NOT have Input Power connected with USB connected.
The NEW WIKI mentions this.
While calibrating your radio to APM, the servos should not be connected - they are not needed. Only calibrate, do not drive servos. The USB will supply the APM. IF the Input Power is connected also, an imbalance will probably exist between the two supplies.
Do not become discouraged. Do you have a friend with RC airplane experiece to help?
