Pressing reset after plugging in Lipo on APM 2

I just recently read a warning on forum to press the reset button after plugging in the lipo on APM 2, in order to avoid the 'reverse compass' bug.  Does pressing reset return all settings to default including new PID tuning writings?  What about TX calibrations and leveling?  What exactly does pressing reset do, besides avoid the 'reverse compass' bug.  Sorry if these questions sound dumb, since I am very new to UAV.

  • The 'reset' button on an ATmega is like the reset button on your computer.  It forces a restart of the CPU.  It doesn't wipe the flash/eeprom.

  • The reset button is like just plugging in the battery.  It does not reset any of your calibrations or settings.
