Problem - APM 2.x wil not power up

Power problem – APM 2.x will not power up

07/14/16

Problem – APM 2.8 will not power up via power module but will power up normally with USB cable from PC in Mision Planner.

After I tried to add a buzzer to my APM (ordinary HobbyKing buzzer) via the ground and signal pins #6 on the long 16 pin rail (analog input pins) – now my APM will not power up except by USB and PC.

What did I brake?

I tried a spare power module from my Pixhawk – same problem.

I checked voltages on power module 6 leads – same in both power modules -

5.05, 5.05, 3.9, 4.5, 0, 0

Did I burn out internal fuse?

Help,

Vince

  • SOLVED – APM 2.x - no power

I opened my APM control board and checked voltages after diode and found low value 1.49v

So I jumpered the diode with a small yellow wire.

    Now powers up fine.

So I guess I fried the diode by applying the buzzer on the Accessory rail.

I will be more careful now.

Many thanks to all the excellent documentation on the web for this control board.

I have attached the information I found on the web and a photo of my repiar.

    Luck,

    Vince

  • Addendum:

I measured voltages on APM with power module power and ESC power on output rail -

    Output rail 5.5v

    Input rail 1.1v

    Acessory rail 1.1v

    Thanks,

    Vince
