Problem connecting Pixhawk and Futaba receiver

Hi

Two of my customers have trouble setting up the Pixhawk - I myself have a Pixhawk, but don't use a Futaba receiver, thereby I can't replicate the problem (I would like to find out if the problem is connected to the receiver they use, or something else).

Both use a Futaba R7008SB receiver.
Both managed to upload the Firmware to their Pixhawks - but they are not able to do the radio calibration (the Pixhawk doesn't "see" the receivers, the bars in the calibration are all grey).

They have nothing else connected to the Pixhawk, except receiver (connected to the right port / RC), buzzer, safety switch and USB cable.

The Pixhawk signals via the big LED "pre-arm check failed" (which makes sense ;)

They power the Pixhawk via USB and at the same time with a LiPo (via the Power Module).

The receiver is "found" by the remote, the LEDs are on, the setting of receiver and remote (regarding the use of the SBUS) seems to be right. They use the right port of the receiver to connect to the Pixhawk.

I am happy about any suggestions ...

Thanks a lot in advance

Felix

    • That's beta firmware so you can expect bugs. They will probably just copy over the airplane Sbus code for the final release. The airplane code works perfect with both R7003SB and R7008SB.

  • I finally got everything programmed and working. I now have all 14 channels from my 14SG available at the output pins. I just assumed that the center and end points were the same for channels 9-14. I’m sure that the Mission Planner will have displays for the other channels some day.

Good work by the development team. The Futaba Sbus problem is totally solved.

    • Hey Mike,

      Still going well with 14SG?

Are you still on the same firmware?

      Thank you.
      • Apparently the airplane firmware has it all worked out. I did upgrade my airplane to V3.1.0 and have been flying every day. I am using channels 10 and 11 for landing flaps.

I just got my second airplane flying with a similar setup. I am now using a R7003SB and a R7008SB. I have tested 12 channels using pass through and they all work.

    • What airframe is this in?

How many channels? I assume 8 because that is it on PPM encoder. But you say Sbus is solved then I think you are succesfully using Sbus.

Are your Tx settings something you could share with me?

Thank you for all of your efforts in this. Those of us who invested in a Futaba Shouldnt have to look elswhere for other components.

    Good News

My 14SG and R7003SB telemetry receiver works with the Pixhawk. I am using V3.0.3 airplane firmware so I don’t know if the multirotor firmware will work.

The only thing I can’t figure out is how to calibrate channels 9-14. Any ideas?

Maybe that will be a future Mission Planner upgrade.

    • Hello,

Some time has past since your question/statement. I am in this boat.

How is your current status with the 14SG and the R7008SB with PixHawk config in airplane?

  •

Are there any compatible issues with the small R7003SB receiver? I will be using it on an airplane with V3.0.3 firmware that says it’s 14 channel compatible.

I also need to have channels 9-11 output from the Pixhawk. Looks to me like I just set those channels to pass-through and they will come out on auxiliary outputs 1-3. Is that correct?

I need to know if this will work before I order a receiver.

Hi mike, I'm afraid I don't know about that receiver but I would guess that as it uses sbus for more than three channels then you may have an issue. It's not mentioned anywhere else and some futaba receivers have no issues, so it could be ok! Sorry I can't be more precise. If it is of any help, I am sure that these teething problems will be sorted in the long run. Patience is a virtue with open source and new hardware!
      • I ordered the receiver but now I see that my Pixhawk order says Backordered so who knows when I will be able to try out the combo.
