Problems connecting via xBee

I have changed my xBees so they work on 57600 but when i try and connect using APM2 it just times out. If I connect using the USB cable it works fine. Can anyone help? If i use old firmware and the old Configurator it connects using the xBee without issue so I know they are working. Also can anyone tell me what the altitude setting relates to (e.g. cm, meters, feet, etc)

  • Thanks Chris I got it to work following the instructions below found on http://code.google.com/p/ardupilot-mega/wiki/Wireless

Set baud rate of both to 57600

Make each device have matching PAN ID numbers (not sure if this step is needed because I think my router is in broadcast mode…)

Set the DH of the PC radio to the SH of the APM radio

Set the DL of the PC radio to the SL of the APM radio

Set the DH of the APM radio to the SH of the PC radio

Set the DL of the APM radio to the SL of the PC radio

does it fail on the connect? or the get param stage?
  • I just had this exact problem!

I haven't got to the bottom of it yet, but its some kind of incompatibility between APM Planner and My laptop. If I use HappyKillmore GCS it springs into life with zero issues.

Give Happy Killmores GCS a go, you may find that works for you to.

    Fingers crossed,
