Programming more modes

I've been flying with a Spektrum DX5e until now, so I was only able to use the "gear" selection (5th channel) to switch between auto and manual.

My new DX7 allows me 2 more channels theoretically, but I'm stumped as to how to implement it for changing to other modes??

On the manual, the diagram indicates pin 8 (in, autopilot control) on the APM should connect to the receiver. This is fine for one mode. But now how can I get my receiver's extra channels to tell the APM to go to RTL, FBW etc?

On the "modes" setup it does not see me switching the additional channels on my transmitter (DX7), only the "gear" switch is picked up by the CLI. I've tried connecting another cable from pin 7 to my receiver, but no luck.

Please help!?

Thanks

    yes,

using two 2 position switches (Gear and Aux) gives you 4 modes,

one 2 position (Gear or Aux) and one 3 position switch (Flaps) gives you 6 modes ...

  • You need to use a mix on your transmitter. Check the Wiki, Setting Flight Modes. The DX7 isn't yet listed but you may be able to use the same procedure as some of the other radios, a DX6i is listed for example.
