QuadCopter motor choices

i am building my first QuadCopter and i am having a hard time picking the motor to use either the Turnigy 4240 Brushless Motor 1300kv or the Turnigy 4250 Brushless Motor 1000kv i know both have a max thrust of about 2400g. Can any one tell me wish would be the best out of the 2

  • I don't know the specific motors, but it depends on the propellors. The 1300 will turn a smaller prop faster, to produce the same thrust: the 1000 will turn a larger propellor slower.

If you're using a 10x5 prop, go for the 4240 as it will give max thrust with that prop. If you can use an 11x5.5 prop, go for the 4250 as you can turn the propellor slower and get the same thrust while drawing less current.

I think building a first quad with a target (payload) weight of 15 lbs is a very bad idea, and misguided, at best.

which prop are you planning to use? what is your target flight weight?
