Quad/trirotor platform listing.

I'm thinking about building a quad or trirotor platform. Therefore I'm interested to see a list of people's configurations regarding airframe weight, motor thrust, propeller sizes, battery type etc...

Thank you.

  • Sorry is this sounds harsh but just a quick reply

for a quad, you need to pick one of the varables you have listed and go from there. So lets start with the airframe weight; this would be the finial wight. you want a motor/prop setup that can provide at lease 2x the thrust as the weight, more =better

for a copter of any sort the bigger the rotor disk the more thrust you can get, to a point.( just like in planes push forward to go down, pull back slightly to go up, and pull all the way back to go down)

airframe weight: as light as you can
motor thrust: as much as you can
propeller sizes: a simple static test at about 70% power and pick the one with the most thrust
    battery type: Lipo

If you want to give a starting point of what you want for a finish product I could help you pick out some parts.

  • 1.4 kg lifted by these puppies turned by these motors hooked up to this battery through these ESCs. It can barely take off at about 5 kg AUW, so I'm guessing the thrust peaks somewhere in the 50 N ballpark. It can hover at 15 amps and stay in the air for a little over 30 minutes.
