Question about: Field Calibrations

In the wiki I found this info:

Field Calibrations

You can use the arming/disarming feature to access two leveling calibration utilities:

  • Hold Disarm for 10 seconds to re-level your copter. The accelerometer offsets will be overwritten.
  • Hold Arm for 20 seconds to enter in-flight leveling. This is a special mode meant to be flown in stabilize that only lasts for 45 seconds. While flying at least 4 feet in the air (to avoid ground effects) with no wind, in-flight leveling will use your stick input to fine tune the copter. Once you are flying perfectly level, simply land the copter and wait out the remaining time. The accelerometer offsets will be overwritten. The LEDs will cycle for the entire 45 seconds.

So, I am really excited. The 20sec setting mean that if my copter isn't perfectly balanced to stay on one point without compensating with stick movement or adjusting the trim?

How long should I hold the copter in one place?

Is this mode also used to compensate for bad/jumpy gps signals ?

  • Hi,
    Just a stupid question...

I would like to level the copter without mission planner

What means "hold disarm" ? I mean there is not any "disarm button".

That means "hold arm" for 15 seconds? (throttle down & right)?

I didn't found any easy explanation.

    Thanks!

  • "The LEDs will cycle for the entire 45 seconds"

I can't get my red/yellow/green led to flash during the 45sec time periode.

    Or did I misunderstand something?

This mode will certain help with loiter. If you copter want to lean to one side this will compensate for that. Side leaning means horizontal travel.
It only takes a few seconds to trim it out. You can land when you are happy. then wait out the rest of the 45 seconds.
