Question regarding manual and ESC calibration

Hi,

Well into my first build and I am getting ready to calibrate my ESCs. In the docs there is this graphic which indicated that the signal wires should be disconnected except for functions that require the ESCs such as calibration, testing motor direction and speed. Do I interpret this to mean that the signal wires are disconnect for flight? If so then this might be explicitly stated in the docs to avoid newbie confusion. ( I got that bad ). Thanks in advance.

  • Thanks. That is what I thought but the graphic is just a little misleading.
  • You absolutely do need them plugged in for flight, and for ESC calibration.

What the picture says only applies while setting up, and the reason is safety; ESCs won't arm as long as their signal lines are not connected.
