I am still working through learning all the various things that I have done wrong that are ultimately leading to issues with my crafts ability to hover / fly. I would like to make sure that my Turnigy 9X is setup properly as I am pretty sure that it is NOT. Does anyone have a checklist of settings for the 9x?

After some hunting for the manual that didn't come with it I came across http://www.r2hobbies.com/manuals/rcps61207.pdf

2 things I am particularly curious about are which channels to reverse and how to setup the aux switches (for mode changes)

REVERSE: AIL, ELE, THR, RUD, GEA, PIT, AUX, AUX

AUX-CH: CH5 CH6 CH7 CH8 CH9 (options are HOV PIT, HOV THRO, PIT TRIM, GEAR, THRO HOLD, NULL)

I know for sure that my pitch comes up inverted the wrong direction when in the ArduCopter Configurator tool. Although labeled as pitch in the Configurator settings 'pitch' to reverse in the radio menu didn't seem to give me the desired result.

Tips?

  • Hi Kevin,

I have the elevator reversed on my 9x, so that would match what you observed with the pitch. Also using airplane mode as I got confused by the heli settings (and the pre-set mixes you mention below)

Under AUX-CH I have CH5 to GEAR also reversed so the default position (switch back) is as desired and CH6 to THRO HOLD

I then have 7 to HOV THRO and 8 to HOV PIT, that provides 2 dials for a camera mount.

I've not yet worked out how to use the 3 position F-Mode switch which may be needed in future, but for now that above allows switching between acro/stable and toggle GPS hold, I think this switch can be used with a programmable mix but not spent time to work it out (and the loud beeps usually earn me a disapproving look from the missus)
