Relay broken

Hi guys,

i have a problem it looks like my relay is broken.

First of all, i haven't got a clue what should have damaged the relay. Its just a regular arducopter with a little bit modified frame. Just other arms. After a crash the relay seems to be damaged a little.

And one part wasn't attached on the board any more.

So yesterday i soldered it on the board again. Im not good in that, but well its attached again.

However im trying to get some leds working on it, but it does not change from state. I can hear the relay produce a soft click. But nothing happens.

Does anyone know what to do with this problem?

And in the worst scenario, where can i buy a new relay for on the board?

  • How do you have the leds connected? Could you post a rough schematic? Just in case: note that the relay does not power anything by itself, it only connects the middle one of its three pins to either of the other pins. Powering an LED on and off would involve connecting their positive leg(s) to the middle pin with a suitable voltage source connected to one of the other pins. The relay then switches them on or off when it changes which edge pin is connected to the middle. (And if you wanted to power two things alternately, connect supply voltage to the middle pin and the loads to the edge pins.)

  • Hi Martin,

If you're unsure of whether or not the relay is functioning, you can check the relay using your multimeter and testing the conductivity at the three relay pins on the oilpan.

You can look for the replacement online, and the part number for for a replacement relay is either IM03GR or IM23GR (the numbers should match the relay on your oilpan).
