I use the Ardupilot mega for FPV flight and the best function for me is RTL. So here is my question:
Is it possible to set the RTL Position in Flight?
Reason:
On different flight places the RTL position ist not the best position to circle. Better is to fligh to a safe place and then set there the RTL point.

I suggest the best best place to set the centre of the loitering circle is, say 30 metres, plus the radius of the loitering circle ahead and say, 50 feet, higher than the point where the aircraft was initialised. This way, you could set the aircraft level on the ground in the pits, or in the front of the boot of your car, pointing to where you want the loitering point to be, while you initialise the aircraft. When the wayward aircraft comes home, it will not be flying over the pits, the camping ground, the highway you just pulled off, or into the building behind the carpark. If you cannot regain control manually, then you are safely outside the flying circle, and you will have plenty of opportunities to throw the transmitter at it as it comes around.
Another possibility would be to record the first, and only the first, point you set the aircraft to loiter, then use that point as the loitering point for RTL. This way, you could establish the loiter point shortly after taking off by selecting loiter for a moment when the aircraft is at the point you want the loiter point to be.
Yes, you can make a change to do that in the code pretty easily.
